About Thailand

“The Land of Smile”, “The most exotic country in Asia”, “The country of natural heritage, distinct culture, scenic beauty and embraced with hospitality.” These are just some of the common description of the beautiful country of Thailand. What is really inside this beautiful country? Let’s get close and personal to the Land of Smile - Thailand.

The kingdom of Thailand lies in the heart of Southeast Asia. It is bordered by five (5) countries, namely, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia.

Thailand is divided into 4 natural regions:
The mountainous North, with its profusion of multi-coloured orchids, fascinating native handicrafts and winter temperatures are sufficiently cool to permit cultivation of temperate fruits such as strawberries and peaches;

The high Northeast Plateau, which still jealously guards its many archaeological and anthropological mysteries;

The Central Plain, one of the world's most fertile rice and fruit-growing areas with colourful traditional culture and way of life as well as the sandy beaches of the East Coast and vibrant cosmopolitan Bangkok;

The peninsular South where the unspoiled beaches and idyllic islands complement economically vital tin mining, rubber cultivation and fishing.

Thailand is not only rich in its natural resources but also with festivals.
Some festivals are national affairs, celebrated throughout the country, others are regional events peculiar to a particular area and a particular people. All are joyous, colorful occasions and typically comprise parades with music, dancing and the fun of the fair. Many festivals follow the lunar calendar and are thus movable feasts, while others have set annual dates.

Of the national events, Song Kran, the traditional Thai New Year on April 13th, and Loi Krathong, on the full moon night in November, are the most famous.

Song Kran is a lively affair in which water is sprinkled over one and all, as well as over Buddha images and elders as is the traditional.
Loi Krathong, by contrast, is a quieter, more romantic event in which homage is paid to the Mother of Waters. All over the country, people gather at the rivers, ponds and lakes under the moonlight to float krathongs, small lotus-shaped offerings containing incense, flowers, a candle and a coin. It is a moving and magical sight.

Thailand is also a country of diverse activities.
Shopping, Nightlife, Beaches, Sports and Fun, name it, and Thailand can offer it to you.

This country has been surrounded with array of modern airconditioned shopping plazas and malls, independent boutiques and glittering department stores. The Nightlife is known to be live and vibrant. There is always something for everyone here in Thailand. The beaches of Thailand are one of the reasons why many people come. While they all pretty much have white sand, calm seas and warm water, there are also lots of variations to choose from. Sports in Thailand are considered part of their life. Most of them are already engage in one sport while they are still in their young age. Summing all these prestige, pleasure, amusement, and comfort, come and experience the country’s hospitality.
